7 Ways to Find the Best Deals Online

Online searches for coupons and discounts have increased significantly over the last year. With the economic recession in 2008, retailers across the country realized that it pays to save people money. If you don't find the deal, don't get too upset. Look at the discount as a prize to those who took the time, visited multiple sites and found a deal that worked for them. Know that sometimes with shipping costs and extra time spent, online is not always the best way to save. However, if you know the sites and avenues to check, you will become at least moderately good at checking for deals before you deal the check. :-)

1) Coupon Sites: These deal-portals are great venues for people and vendors to post deals for online shoppers. Check big sites like Retailmenot.com, Couponmountain.com, tjoos.com and deallocker.com. There are many out there.

2) Google Search: Search for your product on Google with the words "coupon" or "promo code". You will likely find the sites listed above with a deal you didn't know existed. An example would be "kohls promo code".

3) Check Ads: Retailers pay big bucks to advertise on search engines and websites. Due to increased popularity, the competition alone tends to drive the price down. But you have to go through the ad to get the lower price for it may be on a hidden page or special link that sends you to the discount.

4) Discount Forums: Slickdeals.net and Fatwallet.com have great deals posted by people who have a coupon, know where a coupon/special is, or even exclusive offers from advertisers.

5) Website Email List: A lot of retailers give a coupon upon signing up for email. Simply visit their website to see if you can sign up and get a coupon right away. If not, you will probably get one relatively quickly.

6) Amazon.com: Just when you think you've found the BEST price for something, check Amazon.com. They offer some really good deals on a wide range of products you would never even think to check for. (You can always check there first if you prefer their service but remember the sellers can be questionable at times when it comes to quality and deliverability).

7) The Social Network: No not the movie, the actual social network. Big retailers, and now even smaller ones, have a significant presence on Facebook, Twitter and depending on the business, Foursquare. Try finding the store you like on one of these sites to see if they are offering any promotion or coupon exclusive to fans.
